We are experienced international pet transfer agents who work closely with our global partners to plan and manage every detail of your pet’s arrival into USA. CLD offers a 7 day a week collection service for your pet from the Quarantine Facility and either delivering them locally or sending them off to any part of USA. CLD can arrange delivery to your doorstep, or you can meet your pet on arrival at the airport.

Quarantine in Australia

Pets travelling to Australia must complete ‘post-entry quarantine’ in Australia’s animal quarantine facility in The Department of Agriculture and Water Resource Quarantine Facility, Mickelham, Melbourne for a minimum of ten days.

Pets travelling from New Zealand are exempt from quarantine and can fly directly to any international airport within Australia.

Australia is free from a number of cat and dog diseases, which makes it a great place to keep pets, however we need to protect this disease-free status. All cats and dogs must undertake a period of quarantine upon arrival in Australia. This quarantine period allows the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources to monitor the animal’s health and become aware of any disease concerns prior to the animal’s release into Australia.

About the Quarantine Facility

You can rest assured that your pet is in the very best of care while staying with the department staff.

Pets are housed in climate controlled pens.
Pets will be allocated an individual pen at the time of booking.
If you are importing multiple animals, the facility will try to house same species ( for example, two dogs) in adjacent pens, where possible.

Quarantine facility and fees

There are a number of fees involved in your pets 10 day stay at the quarantine facility. The minimum cost for one cat or dog to undergo a minimum 10 days quarantine isolation is approximately $2000. There may be additional fees if the animal needs extra parasite treatments, veterinary care, an extended stay in quarantine or other services.

How Long will my pet be in quarantine?

The minimum quarantine period for pets entering USA is 10 days. The ONLY countries which you can import a Pet to USA without quarantine is New Zealand, Cocos Islands & Norfolk Island.

How long does the process take?

From most countries your pet will need to have a Rabies Blood test done (6 months) prior to importing to USA to be eligible for the minimum 10 days quarantine.

How many quarantine facilities in Australia?

Currently there is only one Quarantine facility which is in Melbourne.

Can my pet travel in the plane cabin with me?

No. Your pet must travel to USA as manifested cargo. Your pets will travel on passenger flights to the USA as Cargo not as Excess Luggage.

How much does the transport cost?

Breed and size of your pets – Airfreight is calculated by the volume of space taken up on the flight. Location of your pets – Where your pets travel from can make a significant change in the cost as they vary from country to country.
