One of the ways in which New Zealand’s MPI help protect national territory is by requiring a series of testing and treatments to be completed for dogs and cats entering New Zealand. 

• All cats and dogs will need to be treated with an approved internal and external parasite treatment.
• All dogs over 6 months of age at the date of arrival into NZ will need to be tested for and return a negative result for heart-worm. 
• All dogs need to be tested for and return a negative result for Babesia Gibsoni with very strict testing requirements and vetting timelines.
